The fire at Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris began on 15 April 2019. An AFP journalist reported that firefighters sent drones to fly over the monument while a robot went inside.

DroneDJ reported that the aerial views helped firefighters track how the fire was spreading and decide where to place hoses, and that the drones were borrowed from the French culture and interior ministries. It quotes the Paris Fire Brigade spokesperson, speaking to franceinfo, as saying that the drones made it possible to make tactical choices to stop the fire when it threatened the two belfries. Reports differ on which drone models were flown.
