Drones for GoodICMR’s Drone Response and Outreach in North-East (i-Drone) initiative ran its Phase II study in Manipur in 2021-22. The programme page says that during the first visit drones delivered COVID-19 vaccines and essential medicines to several primary health centres.
The study planned drone links in three districts. In Bishnupur, the take-off site is at Lokoipat and the district’s primary and community health centres were to be linked; in Churachandpur and Imphal West, selected primary health centres were to be connected. The page notes that some Imphal West centres lie within the airport’s restricted zone, where drone flights are not permitted.
