In the Mision PIURA activation between March and April 2017, a consortium including the WeRobotics Peru Flying Labs team, SPACEDAT, UAV del Peru and PeruLand flew nine fixed-wing and multirotor drones over flood-affected areas of northern Peru, including Piura, Catacaos and Chato Chico.
According to Flying Labs, the drones covered more than 7,000 hectares (about 70 square kilometres) in three days and produced orthorectified maps at 5 cm resolution. The data supported search and rescue, damage assessment, identification of stranded communities and planning of aid delivery routes.
